Flower Crown
Prepare paper plates before the lesson by cutting four slits through the centre, leaving about an inch at the edges. Bend the triangular sections upward to create leaf-like shapes that form the crown's peaks. Distribute plates and guide children to paint their crown base in any colour of their choosing. Allow paint to dry completely before proceeding. Provide simple flower stencils and coloured sugar paper. Demonstrate tracing a flower shape and cutting it out carefully. Encourage children to create multiple flowers of different sizes and colours. Invite them to also design one unique flower of their own invention to place prominently on their crown. Guide children to glue their flowers onto the crown. Once flowers are attached, offer additional decorating materials: glitter for sparkle, ribbons for trailing embellishments, and markers for adding details. Encourage creativity and self-expression throughout. Conclude by having each child wear their crown and describe their design choices. Celebrate the beautiful variety of crowns created.
