Tissue Paper Flower Bouquet

Prepare tissue paper before the lesson by cutting pieces approximately eight by ten inches and accordion-folding several sheets together for each child. Distribute pre-folded tissue paper stacks and green pipe cleaners. Demonstrate pinching the centre of the folded paper and securing it tightly with a pipe cleaner twist, creating the flower stem. Guide children to gently pull each layer of tissue paper upward toward the centre, separating sheets one at a time to form fluffy petals. Emphasise gentle handling as tissue paper tears easily. The result is a beautiful, full flower bloom. Encourage children to create multiple flowers in different colours to form a small bouquet. Discuss who they might give their bouquet to and what makes it special. Have children describe the colours, textures, and process of creating their flowers. Display bouquets or allow children to take them home as gifts for special people in their lives.
