Objectives

• Students will identify and generate rhyming words.
• Students will recognise word families.

Materials

• Rhyming cards with circus words
• Word family charts
• Sorting mats

Instructions

1. Introduce circus words and their rhymes (clown/down, tent/went).

2. Sort words into rhyming families.

3. Generate new rhymes for each word.

4. Create silly circus rhymes.

Assessment

Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Evaluate rhyme identification and generation.
