• Blank books
• Pencils
• Crayons
• Word banks

Instructions

1. Brainstorm story ideas with circus themes.

2. Plan using story mountain (beginning, problem, solution, end).

3. Write and illustrate each page.

4. Share finished books.

Conference with students during writing.

Assessment

Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Evaluate narrative structure and sentence writing.
