- Introduces cause and effect concepts
- Provides calming sensory stimulation
Materials
- Clear plastic bottles (securely sealed)
- Water and clear glue mixture
- Glitter in gold and silver
- Small star-shaped confetti
- Hot glue to seal caps permanently
Instructions
Create sensory bottles beforehand with glitter and confetti suspended in a water-glue mixture (1:1 ratio). Ensure caps are permanently sealed. Show children how to shake and tilt the bottles, watching the 'magic sparkles' move. Use vocabulary like 'swirling,' 'floating,' and 'sparkling.' For infants, hold the bottle and move it slowly while they watch.
Educator tip
Make extra bottles—these become favorite self-soothing tools during transitions and rest time.
Assessment
Note children's visual tracking ability, their understanding of cause and effect, and their ability to manipulate the bottles independently.
