Vegetable Printing
To explore mark-making and pattern creation using halved vegetables as printing tools.

Materials
- Halved vegetables (peppers, celery, potatoes, mushrooms)
- Paint trays with ready-mixed paint in autumn colours
- Large sheets of paper
- Aprons and hand-washing facilities
- Drying rack
Instructions
Demonstrate how to dip and press gently. Name the vegetables and colours being used. Celebrate each child's unique creations without directing the outcome.
Educator tip
Display the prints at child height with labels showing which vegetable made each shape—this supports literacy and revisiting of learning.
