LOOKING IN MIRRORS: 'Let's look at YOU in the mirror! What colour are your eyes? You have beautiful brown eyes! And your hair—it's curly and black! Gorgeous!'
CELEBRATING UNIQUENESS: 'Everyone looks different and that's what makes us special. Your skin is a lovely warm brown. Let's find the paint that matches YOUR beautiful skin.'
SUPPORTING THE PROCESS: Don't worry about accuracy—self-portraits are about identity, not art skill. 'Tell me about your picture. Is this you? I love it! You look wonderful!'
DISPLAYING PORTRAITS: Display all portraits at child height: 'Look—these are all the special people in our group! There's you! There's Mia! We're all different and all amazing!'
