LOOKING IN MIRRORS: 'Make a happy face—look in the mirror! What do you see? Your mouth goes UP when you're happy! Now try a sad face—your mouth goes down.'
PAINTING FEELINGS: 'Can you paint a happy face? What colour would you use for happy? What about a face that's feeling angry?' There are no wrong answers in emotional expression.
DISCUSSING ART: 'Tell me about your painting. What is this face feeling? Why is it feeling that way? What could help it feel better?' Open-ended questions extend emotional thinking.
DISPLAYING WORK: Display feelings paintings and refer to them: 'Look at all these feelings we painted! Everyone has different feelings. They're all okay.'
