• Clear containers
• Soil
• Small plants
• Rocks
• Spray bottle

Instructions

Layer rocks, soil, and plants in containers. Seal and observe over weeks.

Educator tip

Choose humidity-loving plants. Discuss what plants need to survive.

Assessment

Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Observe care-taking and understanding of plant needs.
