• Counting baskets

Instructions

Hide numeral cards around room. Find a card, count that many animals into your basket.

Educator tip

Hide cards at child height. Check counting at the end together.

Assessment

Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Observe numeral recognition and counting accuracy.
