• Journals
• Crayons/pencils
• Jungle pictures for reference

Instructions

Children draw and write (or dictate) about their favourite jungle animals or places.

Educator tip

Accept all levels of writing—scribbles to sentences. Focus on expression.

Assessment

Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Observe writing attempts and idea communication.
