Boundary Setting

Knowing and communicating personal boundaries is essential for healthy relationships and safety.

Objectives

Materials

Instructions

Discuss what boundaries are: limits on how we want to be treated. Identify personal boundaries around touch, space, words, and belongings. Practise communicating boundaries: 'I don't like that. Please stop.' Also practise respecting others' boundaries even when we don't understand them.

Educator tip

Connect to body safety without making this purely about stranger danger—most boundary violations come from people we know.

Assessment

Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Observe boundary communication and respect for others' stated boundaries.
