Objectives

Instructions

Materials

- Small booklets made of folded sugar paper

- Passport-sized photographs of each child

- Glue sticks and child-safe scissors

- Ink pads and rubber stamps representing different countries

- World map or globe

- Stickers or markers for decoration

Learning Objectives

- Identify the purpose of a passport as a tool for international travel.

- Demonstrate fine motor control by gluing photos and using stamps.

- Recognise that people live in different countries around the world.

- Practise social turn-taking while visiting different station areas.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Gather the children and show them a real passport or a printed image of one. Explain that it is a special book used to travel to new places.

2. Distribute the sugar paper booklets and have each child write their name on the front cover.

3. Assist the children in gluing their photograph onto the inside cover to personalize their document.

4. Set up four different stations around the room, each representing a different country with a unique rubber stamp.

5. Explain that the children will act as travelers moving from country to country.

6. Instruct the children to visit each station, where they must wait for their turn to have their passport stamped.

7. Encourage the children to look at the globe or map at each station to see where that country is located.

8. Allow time for the children to decorate their passports with stickers once all stamps are collected.

9. Conclude the activity by having children share one place they visited with a peer.

Educator Tip

To support children who struggle with waiting, provide a visual timer at each station to show how long they have to stamp their books. You can extend this activity by creating a simple boarding pass for each child to use before they begin their journey through the classroom stations.

Assessment

- Observe if the child can correctly place their photo within the designated area of the passport.

- Record whether the child understands the concept of waiting for a turn at the stamping stations.

- Note if the child can identify the globe as a tool for finding different countries.

Assessment

Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Observe explanation quality, cooperation, accuracy.
