- Framework: Montessori
- Unit: Practical Life
- Learning area: Preliminary Exercises
- Level: Ages 3-5
Objectives
- Develop balance while walking
- Learn spatial planning
- Build responsibility for materials
Materials
- Small tray
- Glass of water
- Small vase with flower
- Napkin
Instructions
1. Place items on tray carefully. 2. Grip tray firmly with both hands. 3. Lift slowly from the table. 4. Walk at a measured pace. 5. Watch ahead, not the tray. 6. Set tray down gently at destination. 7. Check: did anything spill or tip?
Educator tip
Start with unbreakable items, then progress to glass. The real glass teaches natural consequences—children become remarkably careful.
