Booklet Reading: Blue Series

Blue series booklets extend reading to words with blends and digraphs, the natural next step after CVC mastery, building toward independent reading of real books.

Materials

• Blue series booklets (blends and digraphs, 6-12 pages)
• Comprehension question cards
• Reading response journal

Instructions

1. Review relevant blends/digraphs. 2. Present booklet. 3. Child reads independently. 4. Discuss: 'What happened? What was your favorite part?' 5. Answer comprehension card questions. 6. Write or draw a response. 7. Add to reading log.

If a child struggles, check which blends need review. Return to phonogram work briefly, then try the booklet again.
