SETTING UP THE SPACE: Create a special area with visual steps: 1) Both sit down 2) Each person says what happened 3) Each says how they feel 4) Think of solutions 5) Choose one and try it.
GUIDING THE PROCESS: Initially, sit with children and guide: 'Elena, you go first. Tell Leo what happened. Leo, your job is to listen. Then Leo will tell his side.'
GRADUALLY STEPPING BACK: As children become skilled, stand further back. Let them try the steps themselves. Only intervene if needed: 'You're doing this yourselves! I'm so proud!'
CELEBRATING RESOLUTION: 'You had a problem AND you solved it! You listened to each other and found a fair solution. That's amazing problem-solving!'
