Instructions
Read a shortened version; act out key moments; invite toddlers to move props (e.g., place pigs in houses, line up bears). Ask choice questions; repeat vocabulary; keep activity 5–10 minutes; rotate turns quickly.
Educator tip
Use choices, not open-ended questions; model then hand over; praise attempts; keep pace fast.
Assessment
Observe and note: emerging independence, two-word combinations, imitation of actions, and early pretend play. Use Development Matters non-statutory guidance checkpoints. Observe participation, pointing/labelling, matching/sorting attempts, turn-taking.
