Instructions

Read and analyse: identify problem/solution and character choices. Students complete an extension task: write an alternative ending, design improved structure with data table, create a compare/contrast Venn, or produce a safety plan poster. Share with evidence.

Use rubrics (1–4); require justification; allow multiple solutions; support with word banks and exemplars.

Assessment

Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Rubric: comprehension (accuracy), reasoning (because), product quality (writing/data), collaboration.
