- Outdoor thermometer (child-readable)
- Season pictures
- Weather journal
- Appropriate clothing cards
Instructions
1. Go outside: observe the weather. 2. 'What do you see? Feel? Hear?' 3. Select weather symbol for chart. 4. Read thermometer: 'Is it warm or cool?' 5. Record in weather journal. 6. Discuss: what clothes are appropriate? 7. At month's end, review: 'How many sunny days? Rainy days?' 8. Compare months to discover seasonal patterns.
Educator tip
Make this a daily routine. Over months, children discover seasonal patterns from their own data—much more powerful than being told.
