Objectives

• Sort helper-themed objects by color into matching containers

Materials

• Red, blue, and white items
• Three colored buckets
• Helper items (red fire truck, blue police car, white ambulance)

Instructions

1. Introduce the three colors and matching helpers.

2. Hold up an item: 'What color is this?'

3. Have children place in correct bucket.

4. Count items in each bucket together.

Educator tip

Sing a color song while sorting to reinforce learning.

Assessment

Record sorting accuracy (percentage correct) and color naming ability.
