- Framework: Montessori
- Unit: Practical Life
- Learning area: Grace & Courtesy
- Level: Ages 3-5
Objectives
- Learn meaningful apology
- Develop empathy and accountability
- Build repair skills
Materials

Instructions
1. Recognize: 'I did something that hurt someone.' 2. Stop and face the person. 3. Say what you did: 'I'm sorry I knocked over your tower.' 4. Acknowledge their feelings: 'You must feel sad.' 5. Offer to help: 'Can I help you rebuild it?' 6. Plan for next time: 'I'll walk more carefully.'
Educator tip
Don't force apologies—they become meaningless. Instead, guide: 'Did you see her face? How do you think she feels? What could you do to help?'
Assessment
Child apologizes meaningfully including what happened, how the other feels, and how to help.
