Classified Cards — Animals of the Farm
Rich oral vocabulary is the ground beneath all reading. Classified cards give the child precise names for a world of things. A mismatched pair is caught by the child's own eye.
- Framework: Montessori
- Unit: Language
- Learning area: Vocabulary Enrichment
- Level: Ages 3-4

- Set of twenty classified cards: ten paired realistic images of farm animals (cow, pig, sheep, horse, chicken, rooster, duck, goat, donkey, turkey)
- Small mat
Instructions
1. Bring the cards to a mat. 2. Lay out one of each pair in a column. 3. Shuffle the duplicates and place them face up. 4. Take one duplicate, find its match, and place it beside the first card. 5. Continue until all ten pairs are matched. 6. Use a three-period lesson to name three animals. 7. Over lessons, name all ten. 8.
