Materials
- Large sheets of dark blue or black paper
- Non-toxic finger paints in purple, blue, and white
- Star stamps or sponges
- Silver and gold paint pens (educator use)
- Smocks and hand wipes

Invite our youngest artists to create their own galaxy masterpieces through the sensory joy of finger painting.
Educator tip
Some children may be hesitant to touch finger paint. Offer brushes or sponges as alternatives, and never force sensory activities.
Assessment
Observe and note: sustained engagement, sensory responses, early vocalisations, and attachment behaviours. Document using the Characteristics of Effective Learning framework (Playing and Exploring). Note children's willingness to engage with the paint, their exploration of colour mixing, and their focus during the activity.
