- What's Out There? A Book about Space by Lynn Wilson
- Black sugar paper
- Powdery glitter
- 8 circles per student (planet templates)
- Scissors and glue

Transport children into the wonder of space through an engaging read-aloud experience followed by a creative response activity.
Assessment
Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Teacher observation of student's ability to demonstrate developing knowledge of planets and ability to follow simple steps for completing the project.
