Materials

• Flashlights
• Animal cutouts on sticks
• White sheet/screen

Instructions

Create jungle animal shadows on the screen. Tell stories about their adventures.

Educator tip

Experiment with distance to make shadows bigger/smaller.

Assessment

Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Observe creativity and light/shadow understanding.
