Materials

• Tempera paint
• Large paper
• Brushes
• Sponges
• Cotton balls

Instructions

Children create cloud and sky paintings using various techniques and explore colour mixing.

Educator tip

Add a small amount of white to all colours to create 'sky tones' that blend beautifully.

Assessment

Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Observe engagement with materials, willingness to explore techniques, and use of colour.
