Preschool in Rivonia, South Africa

Rivonia Preschool is a preschool in Rivonia, South Africa, at 26 Wessels Road. It serves children aged 0 to 4 years and describes itself as a place dedicated to nurturing young minds and instilling a lifelong love for learning from the very start. The school presents itself as a safe, supportive, engaging environment where young children can explore, discover, and thrive. Led by Karen Civico, a qualified teacher with experience heading the foundation phase at a private school for many years, the preschool aims to give children a solid foundation as they prepare for big school.

The school follows the Department of Education’s CAPS Curriculum and the National Curriculum for children aged 0 to 4 years. Its learning approach is built around weekly themes, numbers, and letters, with qualified teachers guiding children through the planned activities. The school says learning unfolds through play, with interactive lessons designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. English is the language listed for the school. The description also notes a focus on holistic development, supporting cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth in age-appropriate ways.

Daily life at Rivonia Preschool includes a range of interactive activities such as playing, baking, singing, and reading, all within a caring atmosphere. The school highlights a secure environment and says its facilities are safe, with caring staff supporting children throughout the day. The images and activity descriptions suggest a hands-on setting where children are encouraged to learn through doing, while also enjoying movement and practical experiences. The preschool also offers extracurricular options, including Junior Builders, Soccer, and Swimming. These activities are described as add-ons that come with an extra cost, and the school notes that an external coach joins the soccer activity and an external partner provides swimming lessons at the school.

What seems most distinctive about Rivonia Preschool is the combination of a nurturing tone, a structured curriculum, and a strong emphasis on play-based learning for very young children. It may suit families looking for an English-medium preschool that follows CAPS and the National Curriculum, and for parents who value a safe, caring environment with experienced teachers. Its age range, from birth to four years, makes it a focused early-childhood setting rather than a broad school. Families interested in a straightforward preschool foundation, with themes, practical activities, and optional enrichment activities, may find it a good fit.
