International School for Peace

Preschool in Tucson, Arizona, United States

Located at 4625 East River Road in Tucson, Arizona, the International School for Peace serves children between the ages of two and five. As Tucson's first Spanish immersion preschool, the institution has been operating for over twenty years. The school provides a welcoming atmosphere where the core mission is to promote peace within each child, the local community, and the wider world. This objective is achieved by providing students with multicultural experiences and celebrating diversity in all its forms.

The educational approach at this preschool focuses on a play based, anti-bias curriculum. This method ensures that young learners engage with new concepts through active exploration and social interaction. Because the school specializes in Spanish immersion, children are exposed to both Spanish and English in a natural setting. A significant component of the teaching philosophy involves peaceful conflict resolution, which helps students develop essential social skills while they navigate their early years of education. The school also offers enrichment classes to further support the growth and development of its students.

Daily life at the school is centered on creating an inclusive environment where all families are encouraged to participate. The campus serves as a community hub where parents and guardians are invited to share their unique cultures, assist with special events, or volunteer their time. The school maintains a structured yet nurturing environment with clear health and safety policies and procedures, including a dedicated health action plan. In addition to the standard academic year, the school provides summer care programs and employs a specialized summer staff to maintain continuity for the children.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the International School for Peace is a distinctive choice for families seeking a mission-driven early childhood experience. It is particularly well suited for parents who value language acquisition and want their children to develop a global perspective from a young age. The combination of Spanish immersion and a peaceful, multicultural focus makes it an ideal fit for families who prioritize diversity and social harmony. By blending language learning with a commitment to anti-bias education, the school prepares children to be thoughtful and communicative members of a multicultural society.
