Natural Choice Academy is a preschool in Phoenix, Arizona, serving children ages 1 through 5. Founded in 2011, it is described as a unique early childhood education center offering a holistic, all-natural learning experience. Its philosophy focuses on nurturing the mind, body, and spirit of each child through a carefully crafted environment. The school serves families looking for a preschool experience that emphasizes health, environmental sustainability, and child-led learning.
The curriculum is Reggio Emilia-inspired, with learning guided by children’s interests. Teachers thoughtfully design experiences that encourage exploration, creativity, and collaboration. The school also describes its approach as emergent and play-based, with a strong emphasis on social-emotional development. Classrooms are treated as the “third teacher,” with natural materials, open-ended learning spaces, and many opportunities for children to express ideas through art, movement, conversation, and play. Teachers act as guides and co-learners, supporting critical thinking and confidence.
Daily life appears to include both indoor and outdoor exploration. The school’s photos show children documenting observations during outdoor learning, engaging in sensory water play, exploring plants and gardening outdoors, working on hands-on classroom projects, and participating in science activities with a teacher. Other images show young children working together, using fine motor and creative materials, and enjoying the outdoor classroom, including a hammock and natural outdoor learning areas. These details suggest a setting where children learn through active discovery and close attention to the environment around them.
What makes Natural Choice Academy distinctive is its combination of child-led learning, natural design, and a clear focus on social-emotional growth. Its all-natural philosophy and Reggio Emilia-inspired approach make it a good fit for families who want a preschool rooted in exploration, collaboration, and connection to nature. For children ages 1 to 5, it offers a setting where learning is hands-on and responsive, and where the atmosphere is intentionally shaped to support the whole child.
