Peridot Montessori is a private school located in Madison, Alabama, serving families throughout the Madison and Huntsville areas. The school currently provides a nurturing educational environment for children ranging from eighteen months to twelve years of age. Its mission is rooted in the belief that the greatest gifts a child can receive are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence. As a registered member school of the American Montessori Society and licensed by the Alabama Department of Human Resources, the school maintains a warm and professional atmosphere where every student is seen and known by their instructors.
The curriculum at Peridot Montessori is based on authentic Montessori principles rather than being merely inspired by the method. This approach focuses on child led exploration and whole child development, ensuring that growth includes academics along with focus, grace, and confidence. In the classroom, English is the primary language used as children engage with purposeful materials designed to teach specific concepts. Peace education is also a central tenet of the curriculum, where students practice daily courtesy and peaceful problem solving. Teaching is grounded in close observation, allowing guides to connect each child with the right lesson at the perfect moment of readiness.
Daily life within the school unfolds across several distinct programs held in prepared environments. The Toddler Community for ages eighteen months to three years emphasizes language growth and practical life skills. Older children move into Primary and Elementary levels where multi age communities allow for unique social dynamics. In these settings, older students take on leadership roles while younger students learn by watching their peers. The facilities are designed to support independence, featuring shelves and tools that invite focus and meaningful work. Families are kept closely connected to this daily journey through regular updates that provide a window into classroom moments and progress.
What makes Peridot Montessori distinctive is its commitment to a continuous educational journey that will soon span from toddlerhood through the teenage years. While currently serving students up to age twelve, the school has planned the addition of an Adolescent Program for the 2027 to 2028 academic year. This long term continuity allows students to build deep, three year relationships with their guides and classmates. It is an excellent fit for families seeking a small, dedicated community that values authentic Montessori standards and individual attention. The school also participates in the Alabama CHOOSE Act ESA program, offering a supported path for eligible families in North Alabama.
