Hess Preschool is a preschool in Singapore for children from 18 months to six years old. Its Early Childhood Programme is described as growing with each child, balancing hands-on exploration with strong academic foundations. The overall atmosphere is nurturing and curiosity-led, with learning presented as a journey shaped by discovery, engagement, and support.

The curriculum is bilingual and built around thematic, hands-on learning with structured academic guidance. Daily English and Chinese immersion supports language development, while phonics, storytelling, and discussion help build early reading and communication. Mathematics is introduced through the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract method, so children move from concrete materials to more abstract thinking step by step. Across the programme, the school says children are encouraged to explore, collaborate, and connect learning to literacy, numeracy, science, and the arts.

Daily life at Hess Preschool blends purposeful play, guided exploration, and age-appropriate academic learning. The school says each learning environment is intentionally set up to support inquiry, with children observing, experimenting, building, questioning, and working with others through projects. A low teacher-child ratio is part of the school’s nurturing approach, helping each child receive attention. The programme also places emphasis on social-emotional development, as children learn to express themselves, manage emotions, work with peers, and develop habits of independence and responsibility.

What stands out most is the school’s clear balance between exploration and academic preparation. Hess Preschool presents itself as a place where children can enjoy hands-on learning while also building the literacy, numeracy, and communication foundations needed for Primary School. It may be a good fit for families looking for a bilingual preschool in Singapore that values both guided learning and child-led discovery, and for children who thrive in a supportive environment with varied, practical learning experiences.
