MindKids Preschool is based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, with its main location described as being in the heart of Johor Bahru, next to the residential estates of Taman Sentosa and Taman Pelangi, and close to Southkey and KSL Shopping Centre. The preschool says it is committed to providing children under its care with high-quality early childhood education at affordable fees. It began in 2007 as MyKids Childcare in Johor Bahru and was renamed MindKids in 2017. MindKids serves children from 2.5 to 6 years old, and its stated approach is to respect each child as a unique individual with different needs.
The school offers two main programmes. For children aged 2.5 to 3, there is a play-based toddler and pre-nursery programme designed to spark a love of learning. For children aged 4 to 6, the kindergarten programme is holistic and thematic-based. It incorporates language, S.T.E.A.M. and public speaking skills. The school says this programme aims to train an enquiring mind, build self-confidence, and help mould a global citizen who will respect others and the environment. MindKids uses Malay and English, and its vision and mission emphasise offering a conducive environment that nurtures each child’s interests and equips them with lifelong learning skills.
Daily life at MindKids is shaped by the school’s emphasis on communication and partnership. It values two-way communication with parents and uses an app-based Parent Portal to update families on their children. Parents can access information from their smartphones wherever they are, and they can also provide feedback on the school’s services or share useful information about their children. The source also notes support from the school’s team of dedicated teachers and from parents and the community. Family comments included on the site mention teachers’ attention to children’s well-being and the care taken in organising activities such as an outdoor outing.
What stands out most in the source is the school’s combination of affordability, a child-centred philosophy, and a structured early years programme that changes as children grow. Its focus on each child as a unique individual, together with play-based learning for younger children and thematic, skills-based learning for older preschoolers, will appeal to families looking for a thoughtful early childhood setting. MindKids may be a good fit for parents who value close communication with teachers, a bilingual environment in Malay and English, and a preschool that aims to nurture confidence, curiosity, and respect for others.
