Hampton School is a private, English-medium school in Mauritius for children from 18 months to 11 years. It offers daycare, pre-primary and primary provision, bringing these stages together in one setting. The school describes its ethos as one built on care, results and confidence, and says it aims to provide a pleasant, results-oriented atmosphere where pupils can learn, work and grow. For younger children, the daycare centre is described as a safe and stimulating environment for families needing care while they are at work.
The curriculum changes across the school in line with pupils’ ages and stages. In pre-primary, the curriculum is theme based and age appropriate, and it takes into consideration diverse learning styles as well as gender differences. In primary, Hampton offers a broad and balanced curriculum. The school also says it uses an advanced educational programme and contemporary teaching methods within a quality, international-based curriculum. English is the language of the school, and the emphasis is on helping pupils benefit from teaching that supports both academic progress and wider development.
Daily life at Hampton School appears to include more than classroom learning alone. The primary section includes a wide range of extra-curricular activities so that each pupil can reach their full potential. The school says pupils from daycare, pre-primary and primary have taken part in national events, performed on television and radio, spoken with politicians, and competed in national and international competitions, sometimes against pupils much older than them. The school also notes that parents value the sense of care in the community, with one describing it as feeling like a second home for their children.
What stands out most in the school’s own description is the balance between academic results and personal development. Hampton says it has a superior academic record, with pupils regularly attaining a 100% pass rate in the Primary School Achievement Certificate and the majority gaining admission to top state secondary colleges across Mauritius. At the same time, it emphasises confidence, experience and the kind of tools pupils need to create an outstanding future for themselves. It may be a good fit for families looking for an English-medium school with a structured, age-appropriate curriculum, a strong focus on care, and opportunities for children to build confidence through a broad range of experiences.
