Merton Montessori School is a private preschool, nursery, and kindergarten in Ghana for children aged 3 to 6. The school says it has served Ghanaian and expatriate families for almost six decades, and it describes itself as committed to providing world-class Montessori education that gives children a strong foundation and a valuable head start in life. Its tone is clearly centered on steady growth, confidence, and independence, with an emphasis on helping young children become lifelong learners.
The school’s curriculum is built around Montessori and holistic education, with a strong focus on hands-on learning. According to the school, children take part in activities and programmes across information technology, language, excursions, outdoor play, music, movement, and games. The Merton Way describes learning as happening through exploration, play, structure, and tailored instruction. The school also says it wants children to study not only their immediate environment but the world, and to be ready for life as well as for primary school.
Daily life appears to be varied and active, with children learning through practical experiences and different forms of play. The curriculum includes outdoor play, music, movement, and games, alongside language and information technology. The school also refers to excursions as part of its programme, which suggests that learning extends beyond the classroom. From the material available, the atmosphere seems purposeful but child-centered, with an emphasis on curiosity and a solid educational foundation. The school’s website also uses the phrase “Join the Merton Family,” which gives a sense of community, although no further details about parent involvement or facilities are provided in the source.
What seems most distinctive about Merton Montessori School is the combination of its long-standing presence, its Montessori approach, and its broad, hands-on curriculum for young children. The school highlights confidence, independence, and lifelong learning as key outcomes, and says that children graduate with curiosity about the world and a strong foundation to reach their full potential. It also notes that it serves both Ghanaian and expatriate families, making it a suitable option for families looking for English-medium Montessori education for children in the preschool, nursery, and kindergarten years.
