GEMS International School is in Dubai Hills, Dubai, and serves students from age 3 to 19. It opened in September 2013 as a premium IB World School. The school describes its purpose as sustaining natural curiosity and inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and its wider message focuses on developing lifelong learners within a global community committed to high-quality international education.
The curriculum includes the IB Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, Diploma Programme, and Career-related Programme. The school says the IB framework helps students think critically and independently, and to inquire with care and logic. In Kindergarten, learning includes morning meetings, group work, problem-solving, outdoor play, and integrated learning in Math, English, Science, and Social Studies, with Music, Art, Library, and PE each week. The school states that instruction is in English. In the Middle Years Programme, the curriculum covers all eight MYP learning areas, and the school highlights STEAM, as well as a Centre of Excellence in Aviation, Aeronautics, and Space.
Daily life appears to combine structured learning with active, hands-on experiences. The Kindergarten section mentions outdoor play alongside classroom learning, while the primary years emphasise inquiry-based, transdisciplinary themes. The school also references a strong STEAM focus and a Centre of Excellence in Aviation, Aeronautics, and Space, which suggest a learning environment that connects ideas across subjects. The school page also shows accreditations and recognitions, including Council of International Schools accreditation and an International Inclusive Award.
What stands out most is the school’s broad IB offer across the full age range, from early years through diploma and career-related study. That makes it especially relevant for families looking for a continuous IB pathway in an English-speaking setting in Dubai Hills. It may suit students who respond well to inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and a curriculum that balances academic study with broader exploration of interests and future pathways.
