Dressing Frame: Bow Tying
Bow tying is one of the most complex dressing skills. The frame isolates this skill so children can practice without the added challenge of working on their own shoes.

- Unit: Practical Life
- Learning area: Care of Self
- Level: Ages 4-6

Materials
- Dressing frame with ribbons or laces for bow tying
- Frame stand or flat surface
Instructions
1. Cross right lace over left. 2. Tuck right under and pull snug. 3. Make a loop with one lace ('bunny ear'). 4. Wrap other lace around the loop. 5. Push through to create second loop. 6. Pull both loops to tighten.
Educator tip
Use two different colored laces to help children track each side. The 'bunny ears' method works for most children at this age.
