Numbering Noodles

Infants learn through repeated exposure and sensory integration. 'Numbering Noodles' supports neural development by pairing language with sensory input.

Objectives

Instructions

1) Position infant securely (lap or supported seat).

2) Introduce ONE sensory stimulus related to the activity.

3) Label repeatedly using simple language (e.g., 'soft', 'bright', 'loud').

4) Allow 10–20 seconds of safe exploration.

5) Pause and observe response.

End with predictable closing phrase.

Assessment

Observe and note: sustained engagement, sensory responses, early vocalisations, and attachment behaviours. Document using the Characteristics of Effective Learning framework (Playing and Exploring). Observe gaze fixation, sensory reaction (smile, reach), tolerance of stimulus, regulation.
